What you can do
Everything a team needs for a Definition of Done, release steps, onboarding or QA runs.
Fast keyboard editing
Enter adds the next item, Tab nests it, Alt+↑/↓ moves it and Space ticks it. Paste a list and every line becomes an item.
Many checklists per work item
Up to 20 named checklists, each with section headings and two levels of sub-items. Hide completed items or number the list.
Statuses that fit the job
To do, In progress, Done and Skipped by default, a Pass / Fail / N/A set for QA, or your own set per project.
Mandatory items, owners and dates
Flag the items that must be done, assign items to people (they are notified) and set due dates that change colour as they come due and go overdue.
Templates and auto-apply
Build templates once. Apply them by hand, automatically when a work item is created, or in bulk to the results of a JQL query.
Block a transition
The "Checklist complete" validator stops a work item moving on until every item, every mandatory item, or at least N items are done.
Search with JQL
Find work by progress, open items, mandatory items left, who an item is assigned to or when it is due.
Progress everywhere
A "Checklist progress" field for board cards and filters, and a "My checklist items" dashboard gadget, overdue first.
Export any time
Copy a checklist as Markdown or export CSV. Lock checklists when a work item is done so the record stays put.
Why Checkwright
What people tell us they miss in typical checklist apps, and what we did about it.
| Typical checklist app | Checkwright |
|---|---|
| Checklist text kept on the vendor's servers, residency only on top plans | Checklists stay in your Jira site. Nothing is sent outside Atlassian, on every plan |
| Free plans capped at a handful of items or templates | No feature tiers. Every site gets templates, validators and JQL |
| Validators that need regular expressions or skip team-managed projects | One validator with three plain choices, in company-managed and team-managed projects |
| One global set of statuses | Status sets per project, including Pass / Fail / N/A |
| Edits that overwrite each other | Changes from two people merge item by item, with a clear "Saved" state |
| Formatting that mangles snake_case and [brackets] | Light formatting that leaves technical text alone |
| Hard to get your data out | Markdown and CSV export, and data that moves with your Jira site |

Questions
Where is my checklist data stored?
Inside Atlassian. Checklists are saved with the work item itself in your Jira site, so they follow Jira's permissions, backups, data residency and migrations. Templates and settings are kept in Atlassian-hosted app storage. Nothing is sent to any outside server.
Can a checklist block a workflow transition?
Yes. Add the "Checklist complete" validator to any transition, in company-managed or team-managed projects. Choose whether every item, every mandatory item or at least a set number of items must be done. People see exactly what is left when a transition is blocked.
Can I search for work items by checklist progress?
Yes. Use JQL such as checklistProgress < 100, checklistComplete = "false", checklistMandatoryOpen > 0, checklistAssignee = currentUser() or checklistDue <= now().
Can templates be added automatically?
Yes. Jira admins can set a template to apply itself when a work item is created, matched by project, work item type and label. Templates can also be applied in bulk to the results of a JQL query.
Are there item limits or feature tiers?
No feature tiers. Every site gets every feature. A work item can hold up to 20 checklists of up to 200 items each, within about 32 KB of text per checklist.
How much will it cost?
Free for up to 10 users. Above that, planned pricing starts at US$0.80 per user per month and falls as your site grows, at least 20% below comparable checklist apps at every tier, with a 30-day free trial through the Atlassian Marketplace.
